The EA839 is one of the best engines Audi has ever built. From the factory it's also one of the most muzzled. The twin-turbo exhaust note gets filtered down to something polite and forgettable. These downpipes fix that.

Pull the OEM cats and the character that's been sitting underneath comes through. Louder, rawer, with actual turbo presence at every RPM. Spool response tightens up and EGTs drop under load. If you're building toward Stage 3, downpipes are required hardware at that point anyway. Get them done now

B9/B9.5 RS4/RS5 2.9T Downpipes Key Features:

304 Stainless Steel - T304 austenitic stainless throughout, pipe body, flanges, and heat shield mounting. T304 handles the thermal cycling from EA839 exhaust temperatures without scaling, pitting, or degrading. It's also corrosion-resistant in road-salt environments, which matters for Canadian and northern US climates where most of these cars are driven year-round.

TIG Welded and Back Purged - Every CAP downpipe is TIG welded with inert gas back purging at the weld zone. Back purging prevents oxidation on the interior weld bead, the surface that exhaust condensate and acids contact first. Sugared welds corrode from the inside out. Back-purged welds don't. The result is a clean, full-penetration bead on every unit with no porosity and no variation between production runs.

CNC Machined Flanges - Machined to OEM bolt pattern at both the turbo outlet and midpipe junction. Bolt-on installation, no modifications to the OEM exhaust system required.

Integrated Heat Shielding  - The EA839's underbody packaging puts the downpipes in close proximity to brake lines, chassis components, and wiring. The heat shielded variant replicates OEM-level thermal protection, keeping radiant heat away from everything around it.

A NOTE ON PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

On stock turbos, removing the cats on the EA839 does not add measurable peak power. What changes is exhaust note, transient spool responsiveness, and EGTs. If you're after horsepower, tune first. This is the mod you do because you want your RS5 to sound like an RS5.

The removal of factory catalytic converters will trigger a check engine light. Software tunes are recommended to maximize the power gains.
